Emergency Unit

This is not talking about hospital nor any patients with serious injuries..I'm talking about a HK drama I just watched recently few weeks back..the english title of the show is called E.U. which stand for the above title in full..the drama talked about 2 policemen who were best buddies since in their training school and both of them determined to be a good cop. Find the drama theme song and sub song quite appleasing to my ears so decide to post them up here. :)

What is to come...

Thanks all for buying our album.. anyway to clear up..

more album sales not really equals more income for the band.. it gives the band a better portfolio for future ventures.. the bulk of money goes back to investors who threw in loads of cash for the production.. they have to take back somewhere..

It took lots of faith.. and lots of money thrown in.. we're appreciative of that ever so much..

We're hoping for good sales to assure people that music is a possible investment in singapore..

To sum up.. artistes are always struggling if we're SG based. WE ARE. It's due to the the typical mindset that foreign products are better. Which may be true. WHY???

We are not full time PAID artistes. To set the record straight.. we're part time.. NOT TRAINED. NOT GROOMED.. NOT FINANCIALLY ASSISTED. Learning through experience and elder's (of the trade's) guidance.. Honing our skills as we go along.. throwing in our every cent into passion.

Sidetrack.. example : my Mac white was a "donation" by my dad. I couldn't afford the purchase personally.

I've learnt much through this journey. How long more can passion last me? Checking ATMs for my next Giro pay? Hoping my cheques goes through to last me the next mth?

I feel guilty for being me.

I feel grateful that so many people are behind us.

The greatest joy that SS show night was the screams so loudly heard on TV...

The greatest joy for me is to bring joy on stage. I hope to be able to continue to do so.. to sing if i may.. to make music if i may.. to inspire if I may..

And God help me survive and keep myself afloat and sane while doing so..

Not letting myself down, being who I am, but a better me to come.

If I have to be an ARTISTE to be an ARTIST. I will have to give it a go.

This lil boy just wants to make music and shake his bon bon on stage *sigh*.

Oh well. The TRUTH is not necessarily beautiful at first glance.. But it's the imperfection that makes it real..

GREAT FRIDAY!

Just like what my teacher has mention in the main blog:

Today was indeed a different experience, no instruments, no Wei Qi, no sound check.

The most important is that we made people a tad happier :)

Yea! Today was really an enjoying day..a whole new experience to experience new ways to music..loves the great singings done by the boys..though only 2/3, but BUT the way they are on stage is just great! TALENTED!

For the first time, did some chatting with the girls..not sure why a sudden dare to chat with them liao..but it's feels good..this shows that the MLB Family is friendly and united! More friends along the way as well in future events! Now confirm wont feel bored even if i'm the only male MLBians there(of cos it would still be better with Uncle Phil around)! Took some photos with the girls..feel kind of odd..but it's alright! Cos they're a bunch of great friends!

p.s. my lappy down again..sighz..looks like i gotta send it for repair..temp using my bro's lappy for blog..so unable to uplaod the photos..but BUT, as usual, will upload them once the lappy resume in good condition. :)

A Music Journey

Nic: Time Flies

It's amazing how time flies.. it's been about 6 mths since the birth of Echo Music Chinatown.. and coincidentally its the same amt of time spent on production of the band's Album.

Personally, I don't know how I've managed to pull through.. being an Artiste, a boss, and a production assistant to the band's product - but somehow I managed.

Within this 6 mths I've grown a fair bit here and there in some aspects and I'm grateful for that. Realized that artistry/art direction is not all that is important, though the perfectionist I am. Matured quite abit.. and feel tini-abit sad.. coz I lost that bit of childlikeness in the aspects I matured. Oh well.. its always a plus and minus game. Win some, lose some. Growth is necessary for progress :)

In the end, the product came out the best it could be, but not best I think it could. (Digest this statement for awhile)

There's always a fine line between what we want and what is expected of us to want. (Digest this again)

Too many factors involved like budget, time, different views from different players in the game, BUT all desiring the same outcome and fighting towards a common goal.

We are contented.. looking forward to a better tomorrow..

Personally, I'm ready for the next lap, though how tired I am financially and physically.

It's passion that will spur me on, a dream that will push me whenever i fall 1 step back. Friends that will keep me on firm ground and stand beside me in times of war.

Though the weather is not very good today, but the event help brighten up everything..am happy to see the boys performing LIVE on stage again! Especially the nice little 'sabo' by my teacher..keke

BUT

This will always be a memorable sabo for me cos this sabo brings joy, happiness and smiles on everyone faces..especially the unique gift..thank you Nic!

Felt so nervous when I'm being called to the stage..had too little stage experience i guess..look like i gotta get more stage experiece to overcome my 'stage fright'. Performing LIVE for the very first time too..sighz..didnt do well.. guess my nervousness ruins all..somehow not my ususal self when i'm on stage..seldom go kbox so cant handle my vocals well..SO SAD SO SAD!!! Gotta overcome this two obstacles as well..Next time perform guit on stage! Hahas

If only there's winter...

Earlier tonight, i went to pay my expired tele bill at the Singapore Post..its such a long queue..BUT its worthwhile as i can think of musical stuffs while queuing to kill time..hahas.

After making the payment, as i stepped out of the Post office, there's such a cooling and windy wind..right on the spot i got flashback on how i spent my time back in HK..the wind is exactly the same during their winter time..Right immediatly, i start to think how great it can be if only Singapore could have winter..

It's looks like its time for a GLOBAL WARMING change! hahas.

Yesterday was a great Saturday with a great afternoon with a great night..all about MI LU BING !!!..saw the 3 boys in the afternoon and then follow by a great performance done by them during the night..it was an un forgetable moment..for the first time ever standing right in front of the stage taking nice photos of them in such a close view..so shiok. The jumps and screams we did for MLB make them so welcome in SG..eventually the Mando world too..which is coming soon i believe..Gambate!

MLB 5th Gathering

Saturday 26th July was a great sunny day..a day with smiles and hapiness..why?

Cos' it was a day MLB and MLBians gather together to have fun and laugher..the place for the gathering is so awesome..a cafe just below where i attend my music lessons! Finally able to have a nice warmth chatz with Mr Chan..he's such a nice person spending time to chat with me as I'm the only guy there...feel that my teacher and i seems quite close together..a hello greeting with familiarity is such a cosy feeling..even introduce my name in front of such a big female crowd that i'm his student..i was so abit pai seh at that moment..but at least i got to know i do him proud in the thingys he taught me..a big THANK YOU to ya teacher! will root for ya always! :)

the games session was cool..Mr Chan and teacher acted so well..teacher was so cute with one of the actions..songs perform by MLB was great too! especially love the english song sang by my teacher..it was sooo cool! Got to interact with SamSam in a little box..Sam was so funny..his voice came out from the speaker gave us alot of laughter..lucky draw session didnt won anything this time..so sad..but at least i believe the fun is able to cover the sadness for us..the phototaking with MLB was great too..though the pic i took with my teacher didnt turn up great, but i'm still happy that i'm able to take photo with him! :)

Lappy down

Sighz..it's only 2 days ago when I was still chatting with ya guys here on the blog with my own lappy..little did I know that 2 days later it broke down..using my bro's lappy now to blog this post..so so not familiar with the usesage..it's like can kinda feel there's alot of thingys missing compare to the old lappy..eg. internet surfing..everything gotta navitigate through yahoo or google in order to reach the destination(this is to prevent saving unnessary stuffs onto my bro's comp)..so so unconvinent..lots of missing files can't track back too..so sad..feel like crying..it's like I lost a family member or something that's important in my life..hopefully this lappy of mine can be serviceable without losing any data..wanna share some of my music related stuffs on this post actually..but i guess I can't post them for the time being until my lappy recover(wanna share the right info, thats why not typing out here randomly).

As the old sayings goes, 旧的不去，新的不来..let's take this oppunity to upgrade my lappy to a better horsepower..Cheers peeps ;)

Still kinda miss da channel 8 9pm drama flimed a couple of months ago..the story and the acting skills of the celebrities were great..each of them release the good potential of the character in the story..especially the male lead, Wu(Joshua Ang). Find that his acting skills still awsome..hope to catch more of him in the future serials..the theme song was nice too..been listening to it for about a month liao..Jeff Wang sang quite well..all the best for his debut album.

The most Amazing Cab in SG

Boarding a cab yesterday evening, I was caught by surprise to realize..

1 - The cab provided free access to WIFI (there's a modem onboard with a huge cooler!)
2 - Provided free printing of documents service for passengers onboard (there's a printer just at the backseat, in front of the rear window!)
3 - Universal handphone charger (charge at own risk precaution)
4 - Adjustable LED lights attached to seats, in case it became too dark for passengers to do work on the cab

WOW. Therefore out of curiosity I questioned.

The driver said it wasn't his cab, he was just a relief driver in place of his friend. His friend had a few years earlier thought why not provide these services since he himself loved working on the go, and that his cost for internet subscription and printing would be covered by passengers who would tip for using the services provided.

Examples he quoted :

Airport -
Passenger forgets to bring ticket, can print an E-ticket immediately online. Life saver I must say!

Handphone Low Batt -
I myself would happily tip him for that half hour charge for that vital few moments of being contactable and being able to contact.

WIFI -
There's no reason not to provide the customers with a fixed price paid convenience for himself. How nice of him!

KUDOS to such nice people in Singapore! Maybe mobile companies would turn kind one day and provide us with free communication services. Till then, let's dream on

Messy thoughts. Long Winded. Nothing Spectacular. ME.

2 yr old band.. within these 2 yrs.. we fought, we sweat (you guys also sweat at outdoor shows not forgetting keke)..

How many more yrs of fighting before we get to make our mark in the scene.. being known for "different" chinese music in a Pop industry and be widely accepted as a norm?

Never dreamt of a MLB concert since Audition 1... never dreamt of doing a concert since i was in my mum's inflated womb. But 2 mths ago we were informed and asked if we would want to take up that challenge (and in wei qi's exam period). Crazy... the concert came to pass though. Wei Qi pulled through. We survived. Did satisfactory for a first try. My speech was kinda.. erhrm.. nervous.. but at least OUR music spoke. No pyrotechnics like Andy Lau.. Just plain O' Music :)

2 yrs ago i could only dream of the band flying overseas to show the chinese world our music.. NOW the dream is getting more visual as the days pass. Inch by inch.. maybe in 2 ys/ 4 yrs? I duno.. Anyways.. Not for fame, Not for fortune, BUT for the love of life.. music.. performing.. Hope This dream materialises.

Time really flies..

My Parents have grown old.. my sis has crossed puberty.. i'm now half man half boy.. 3 of us have been aware of each others' existence, say for 18 yrs? wow. looking back.. so much time has swept by. Its saddening thinking of this.. Not too long later i will too have grey hair ...

4 mths ago.. i dreamt in 10 yrs time i'll save up enough experience and $ to open a music related biz.. with studios and all.. to be near my passion.. and now.. this 10yr later opportunity presents itself 2 mths ago.. in 2 mths time it be up.. doing up a music school with a sincere friend of mine who has been in the biz for yrs. A dream fast forwarded by 10 yrs.

What next?

By the time you guys read these messy thoughts..

We would be jamming out for Monday's Show..

And working out our 3rd album stuffs..

After that what's next for the band?

MAybe its time I start looking pass my wooden box that would be pushed into those flames with my kids collecting my ashes.. Giving Music and love the way I would do.. to their kids..

In the end.. we just turn to dust..

But it aint gonna be dusty I hope before that.. Let me shine :)

Summary of the concert:
Went to Esplanade last Friday night to catch Mi Lu Bing debut concert, Three-in-Transit! Though the concert was only 60-minute, the concert was so much fun..Not only MLB rock the hall but us MLBians too..wonder have the 'durian' crack? haha..so many nice nice songs being sang and sang along yesterday..especially those from SB days..so sweet..bring back memories..the video clip was cool too..especially Nic..so cute and funny..the dance was great too..MLB, you guys acted well..jiayou!

Love the encore part where all of us shouted till voice and throat broke..the encore song was so special..it seems so different from other gigs and events we had attented in the past..this night was a memorable night! Just like what Nic mentioned above, 2 months of preparations(迷路兵)2 months of waiting(MLBians) POOF! BUT a great memory it will be..hope for MANY MANY MORE to come!

Mi Lu Bing, thanks for this great great memory you have given us..we'll always chrish it for the rest of the MLB journey! Power-Lah!!!

Mi Lu Bing - Mini Concert!

For those who love music, next month you're gonna have a musical treat! Mi Lu Bing our local band who emerge as SuperBand(season 1) champion in 2006 is gonna bring to us their first ever concert. This is gonna be exciting as Weiqi(MLB's keyboadist) mention that there will be a surprise inside this surprise, and another surprise within the next surprise! New Chapter of My Life(by ik)

It's amazing how time flies.. Been 2 yrs since i was enlisted. I remember my BMT times.. So much fun i had.. in my sweat drenched Number 3s.. all this seemed like yesterday.. i remember how crazy it was under the hot sun.. carrying my duffle bag.. singing army songs "with my water bottle and my buddy and me-ee-eh!"... Thinking of all these is squeezing a tear outa the corner of my eye.. i remember the people that were in my life then.. i remember my bunk.. my bed.. the windows.. the metal cupboards and the padlock that guarded it. i remember the canteen that i had to march there 3 times daily to eat... i remember the route marches - friends cheering "oi! abit more nico! Dun spoil the asmosphere!" I remember cheering my buddy on too "U okies buddy? Common buddy! tahan awhile only 1 wk Sat book out le!".. i remember the brotherhood and man-egoistic feel of my platoon and bunkmates. I remember kiwi-ing my boots to an amazing shine...

I remember ever so vaguely my last camp Nee Soon Camp.. the loading bay.. tar grey clay floors.. walls on 4 corners.. 4th stories HDB storing racks.. i remember the stores.. the dust odor of it.. musky.. ever stuffy though fans kept on... remember the items.. each loaning to one.. the wooden pallets that seemed to be our mini storerooms.. the chatter of crazy campmates.. always kept me occupied and cheerful.. light hearted.. i remember the stressful times which i had to learn to issue stores on my own.. i remember my friends.. whom which we once in awhile hanged out.. ball the daily work stress away.. remember the people who got excited and talk crap at these occasions making a fool of themselves... i remember the encouragements we gave each other once in awhile.. i remember the moody times they had.. i had.. but faded away with each other's company.. i remember the ICTs we did.. some big.. some small and forgetable.. the 1 min fast changes in between stores items.. remember the quarrels we had and resolved.. All good memories.. nothing bad. I remember people who thought me how to cater.. do setup.. thought me lil lessons on the logistics life.. people who thought me more how to treasure people..

All these friends help made a part of who i am now. Wherever u all may be now.. Whatever you all may be doing.. May our paths in life cross.. and if they do.. seeing each other again.. I know it'll be all smiles.. only more.. nothing less.

Had a wonderful time yesterday with the boys at the NTU Open House 2009! So glad to see the 3 boys again..it's been so long since i last attend their gigs..feel so contend to see them still recognize and remember me..Thank you Sam,Nic and Weiqi! You guys power la!

So enjoying to hear them on stage again..they sang a total of 3 songs. All 3 rockz! Hahas. Jia you MLB!

Get to see Nic twice in a day while others see only once..had a fun guitar lesson with him today..the most fun lesson i had since the day i became his student(previous lessons had fun too. In fact, all lesson with him are fun! Hahas.). Learnt alot of music theories from him. So much to remember but forgot some along the way too(Sorry Nic!). Looks like i gotta prepare a pen to copy down notes the next time(Sorry Nic,i may have to trouble you to give some recap! Paiseh!)! Also, i'm so glad to know that i've move on to another level from his teachings too..hope i didnt dissapoint him. Nic, i will continue to improve! Will do you proud! Wont let you down!

Meet up with some of my basketball frenz for steamboat too..ate till about 11++pm..about to spent the night out celebrating fren belated birthday at Kbox..back out the last min..due to some sch test on monday..kinda sad..but it's ok..can hang out some other time..right buddies? Reach home about midnight++..damn tired..took a shower..catch a soccer match(Arsenal won 4-0!)..nothing left to do..off to my lala land. Nites! Have a nice weekend ahead!

Knew Myself a LiL Better

This post is dedicated to my parents, my mum who loves me dearly, and my dad who believes that I can still make it after countless falls.

Was watching a movie.. when a statement from a conversation hit me hard.

"Life's an Occasion. Rise to it."

It's not that I've not been doing that. Ironically, the issue here is that I've been guilty of standing in applause for it for too long a moment, many a times. People generally worry about money, about bread and butter, but people like me would go hungry for passion and merry making music. Who would be standing upright 10 yrs from now? The grounded people building their careers on generic jobs like accountants, lawyers, engineers.. Or people that Rised up to life and paradigms, living a life of passion and joy which may end overnight?

Maybe it'll not me standing. Maybe I woud end up basking at orchard MRT or do some small run-down pub shows for 50 bucks a night, living off maggi mee to save up to pay the rent and a pack of cigarettes... Bittersweet Smiles on my face. Hidden tears on my pillow that would have dried up by the next morning, leaving nothing but faint marks on that pillow case that would have been unwashed off it's countless tears for god knows since when.

On the bright side... maybe it would be me standing, me leaving a legacy for my kids... that I had made it no matter how hard it took me to get the high ground where I would be standing, that I can have the previledge to say to my son, "Look here, Daddy made it through hardwork and belief son, I know you can live your life to the fullest too, live the dreams you dream, that you can get there. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

I'm not questioning my beliefs, my passion, my love for life.

I just question My Own End Point after. Which of the 2 above it would be.

Not backing out, no no. NOT. I'll Rise to the Occasion of Life as I've been doing so. May it treat me well, as I'll applaud it the best I can, Smiles and Sweat on my face, Thorns and Tears in my eyes. Yes. I will Continue moving forward.

Are you rising up today? It's not wrong to sit through your entire life. It can be a joy. Such great joy of simplicity and assurance I had when i was a kid, no worries no troubles. But now as this kid within me grows a lil bigger, his visions have grown too. I'ld risk losing that simplistic joy, to gain a joy unspoken of..

Except only by people like who dream my dream.

Learning through experience

Oh my gosh! I'm quite sad now..feel like crying..the guitar string(4th)Teacher Nic changed for me just got snapped recently..the string was like so valuable in my eyes and it just snapped after..1 week?! So sad..there goes the strings that i treasured..Sorry Nic.

Went to Tampines Mall's Yamaha to get a few set of guitar strings and some string winder..ouch! There goes a hole in my pocket. I'm officially declaring broke! haha jokes..spent about 40+ on these things..thou its ex,but i do gain something thru this valuable string!

Most Memorable Day

Went to Dohby Ghaut today for MLB'08 tee booking..I'm so glad to see the 3 boys again! Chat alot with them for the first time ever..especially my teacher! Travel from Lavender(had guitar lesson before that) with him to Dohby Ghaut..running across traffics together,running under the rain together,take the same bus together..I'm so glad to have a great and nice teacher like him! Nic, thanks for everything! Will always remember this moments! Bit tired now..so cant elaborate much what I did for today..anyway,its just a day that is memorable for me..took some photos with the boys too at gathering..will post them soon once I got the time. Gotta shower and sleep..take care peeps! Tata..

to clarify some doubts about the ordering for MLB tee;

If you'll be coming down on the 7th Feb for ordering, all you have to do is come down on that day and place your order directly, u don't have to place a reservation with us. You'll need to place a reservation (by midnight on 6th Feb) with us only if you're unable to make it on 7th Feb, so that we can count the orders in and confirm the pricing on that day itself.

MLB tee for 2008

Hey all, looking forward to see u all this saturday ya? Meanwhile, we saw 2008 pass by without a MLB tee to commemorate the year. So we have been working on it(was fixing it @ Vivo backstage some more leh), and this time, the design arrived rather differently. For the last tee, WQ worked quite independently on it. This round, he wanted the whole team to be involved, so the final design is something that all 3 guys are happy with. Hope that all MLBians will like it, cos it was done for u all. Have contacted the MLB Ics, and they will soon be helping the whole MLB family make their orders for the tees, sizes etc.

The design is meant to be more subtle than the previous one, so that MLBians might feel comfortable to wear it for any occasion besides gigs. The base colour is gonna be white again, so that those without this tee can still wear the older design and still blend in with the rest. This is just a graphic preview and is subject to much changes as the design might need to be tweaked due to printing constraints :)

Now now, as for the price of the tee, it is around $9-10, but can only b confirmed after confirming the quantity, and once again, please rest assured that this tee is TOTALLY non-profitable for MLB, we are doing it at cost price, MLB ics will be working closely with us during the project, so we hope this helps everyone, especially with the economy starting on a slightly flatter note.

On a side note, weiqi had some initial ideas for the tee, but since it was too personal from him and it wasn't something Nic and Sam was very comfortable with(it was too lame la the design hahaha, i think u all understand ya?), he shall do it as an individual project for the future, probably launch it in mid year or sumthin ;)

Meanwhile Nic is busy with his personal project(exciting!), Sam is busy with teaching drums (pls support ya?), and WeiQi is back to the graveyard of zombies (but this sem he wants to make a positive change!). And as a band, they are meeting every week, to compose their music, for all MLBians in this family, walking in a positive hopeful spirit towards a third album(let's all have faith) :)

Now the interesting part. a rundown of MLB's day, today.
After a long day previously (not posted, if not this post gonna take me till daylight to complete)

12pm meet at church
1230pm pickup to boonlay
1pm reach boonlay for soundcheck.

Now the more interesting part.

1pm is HARD noon. Sun the hottest and brightest. Tentage is like a greenhouse (go research that.. interesting how the design traps heat).

Soundcheck starts.

Perspiring like dogs or hotdogs if u may.

Setup all sui sui. or we think. no prob for first 30 min while waiting for drums to finish mic testing by sound ppl.

They ssay test our lines. At last. Hotdogs become boiled dogs. sweat (water) plus heat.

Keyboard dead. Eg. The "browser" on the keyboard menu appeared differently ....as "Bro"

We know we're bro la but no need like that pls. No need emphasize details at wrong important, crucial events like a freakin sondcheck!

Keyboard now cant connect to mac. no sound. (Mac keep prompting us... "HUI device not found")

HUI aint really know what it means... maybe "Highly Useful Instrument"

Highly Useles instrument? Nah.. It's "Da bomb" Rated online as one of the best... got great awards. Should be ok de.

We "Gioh tolang" to the keyboard.

No kneeling incense involved though.

It still called us "bro"

Brother dun like that now lei...

230pm gave up on the keyboard's "speech impediment. "Bro."

Check guitars then.

Guitar behaved like a snake... lotsa weird noises.

some of which include hissing and "chak chak chak chak chak" at a constant tempo. "ssssssss" like snake... rattle snake to be exact. Youtube a rattle snake. That was our soundcheck for it. Yay.

I know we got constant drummer but aint need competition pls. friendly de. wth.

soundman say may be 2 issues.

1)power source dirty. Highly possible. Generators not constant.
he say happen lotsa times to him before.. but gotta replace generators one day before hand.
We cant countdown 1st to the 2nd of Jan. Don't think organisers would like that yes?

2)might be the heat (which we 20 min before this aga aga think it might be heatstroke for the keyboard)
Bo pian. Keyboard UK brand... temperate climate... like asking eskimo come India to suntan.

WQ brought keyboards down. We packed up. He tested it under the shade and ran whole setup on battery power.

Details cut short, we didnt have a soundcheck. The other performers had to soundcheck too... they were on a tight schedule.

*side note.. afternoon the driver.. (dont know his name.. at that point didnt want to yes..) expressway drive 50km per hour. Equally zhai.. motto of life. SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE (but maybe we 3 lose our jobs la.. dunno what race... but anyway...)

Host all amazing.

Screams (of coz u guyz credited) shiok sendiri.

Dollars are money, but money is not dollars. Gold is money, but money is not gold. How do I explain these apparent contradictions? Simple, there is a one-to-many relationship between money and things we use for money. Referring to dollars as a form of money is technically accurate, but referring to money as dollars is not sufficient to describe all the properties of money — it limits the definition to dollars. Money is anything we use to trade for what we want. It's a store of purchasing power. It's something people either want, or will accept, in exchange for their property or labor. Sometimes money is a physical object, sometimes not. Not all forms of money are equal.

People will always assign different values to different things. People will always be willing trade things they want less for things they want more. Unless people have nothing, they will always be willing to trade something they possess for something they don't. The price is not a numeric figure glued to a box, it's the difference in the perception of utility between that item and what you are prepared to sacrifice. The price is not measured in dollars, it's measured in desires, and it's different for everyone. Therefore, as long as people desire things they don't have, they will be willing to trade to acquire them. It doesn't matter what they are trading, all that matters is they are willing to sacrifice some object, or offer some service, to gain something they perceived was lacking. If you deny this fact, then you deny humanity because you reject what differentiates us from our creations. We are flawed creatures, not machines. You can not quantify how much you like things in any consistent way. If you asked me to choose between an apple and an orange, I may choose the apple. If you then asked me to choose between an orange and a banana, I may choose the orange. If you then asked me to choose between an apple and a banana, would you call me a liar if I chose the banana? No, you would call me human. Repeat the same experiment tomorrow and it may turn out completely different.

If somebody were to ask whether you are completely satisfied with life, either you are, or you are not. If you are, you're not human. If you're not and somebody then asks you to list everything you want in life in order to be completely satisfied, either you will prepare a list or you won't. If you have no list there is no way any person or system can satisfy your desires because they would have no idea what to do. If you have a list, find out how many of those items are material and how many are not. If they are all material, you're either an idiot (because you didn't understand the question) or a liar. There is no person with a perfectly balanced existence (health, love, family, emotions, interests, friends, challenges, victories, safety, comfort, hope, skepticism, curiosity, memories, optimism, excitement, etc) because there is no definition of a perfect balance. Your own perceptions of balance are variable and non-quantifiable. What is perfect in the current moment will be imperfect in the next, what is perfect today will be imperfect tomorrow. The interminable and unpredictable fluctuations of our imbalances and imperfections continually create and destroy desires until the day we die.

Experience with these imbalances and fluctuations throughout life and events are what define personality, goals, dreams and desires. There is no way any person or system can satisfy you completely without taking away these flaws that make you human. Thus, you will always be lacking something. It is immaterial whether it's real or just perceived, whether it's persistent or transient, whether it's acknowledged or subconscious. You will be willing to trade, you will offer money, for a price.

Wii.. and x box 3... LAN shop with 34" LCDs to chill out... KTv rooms inside with only MLB mvs (sad till now onli 2, so gotta wait la).. MLB cafe only selling milo? sure cannot make it dao bi.. maybe sell some kopi peng to boost sales. jokes. Can do alot with that amt of money... PLEASE spend it wisely if YOU THE WINNER ARE READING THIS. That money is like a lifetime saving man... even my dad aint got that kinda cash.. i rather participate shoot some darts then waving my hand on air.. darts mad of gold in that show aye?.. haha... kidding.. anyway.. we had a great time.. and a great shock. hope u all had too!

Hong Kong

Woooooo! Went to Hong Kong last week for holiday..still remember the memories there so well..guess I'm in love with HK..if there's a chance, I don't mind migrate there(but I got to have some $$ first ya? and learn some basic cantonese language)..lol..I'm so in love with the scenery,the streets,the tv shows,the food and the shopping over there. It's my first time been so happy and excited about the holiday I spent in another country..normally, when I travelled back to Singapore from overseas, I would soon forget about the place and miss Singapore..but this time is sooo different..it looks like HK really have a strong attraction for tourists..if possible, I don't mind fly there again the second time..or perhaps the rest of my holidays?..haha..I strongly recommend HK is a nice place for holiday! you guys will never regret going there..I promise!

Tampines North CC

Last Sunday, Mi Lu Bing performing at Tampines for the very first time at North CC(Community Club)!

Halo mlbians... thank you all who came down to give your support today... wonder if u can tell if we were kinda tired.. yup a busy and tiring week for us 3... today a weird thing happened.. usually my side of the equipment will screw up, but we 3 spent 2 whole weeks fixing it! and today, nic's equipment suddenly refused to speak!?!? 1 in a million chance! ok..maybe 1 in a 100, cos he used it maybe a hundred times at least? during practices?? so why today!? and was it just me or did we sound too soft and like cave men? so it seemed as if sam was playing too loud, but in actual fact, it was the music that was too soft. well we learn so many lessons each time there's some kind of screw up during performances.. and yup, MLB kinda like prone to such stuff.. cos band ma haha.. but well, on the bright side, wonder if u all noticed,but we set up and pack up much faster! yay! we're training to be super efficient in our build/tear down speed, required for certain events etc. and also thus allowing more interaction time with you all!!! after the gig, today we finally unwinded... as a band.... wow, so long since we just relaxed together... had to destress la, running here and there the whole week... so we had some ya kun coffee, then played an hour of "left4dead" haha..then we ate lunch, then donuts... then yup... split up for home..quite a san ren tong xing day. Miss such days le, seems like ever since we've been so busy with the band being sorta an official 'job' we have less of such time together, sometimes it is really sad, cos we are friends to begin with, that was our roots,but in a busy and cruel world, sometimes things can get at you, especially friends, it can be super painful, sleepless nites... but i guess though i missed today's sermon in church bout forgiveness and reconciliation, I do know that forgiveness and openess heals every wound, it can turn a scar into a beatiful birthmark. No matter how bad the damage, true friends can reunite and spur on a whole new and amazing journey. Been away from stages for bout a mth now.. feels alil foreign.. its like lost my faith... kinda miss mdc.. the days whereby i get to practice ever so often.. like it anot.. sing and perform.. smile on stage no matter what happens.. the show must go on.. all this making mdcians ever so stage ready. Shan't elaborate our issues on stage today.. haha.. wei qi above elaborated le la hor... haha.. if not read 2 times oso sian rite?? keke...

I miss the stage.. realli so much.. today i just sang (a lil zhao sia forgive me la hor.. reverb was gao gao.. cant hear myself on stage somemore).. BUT.. i felt i let myself and the band down.. i did not "perform". Oh well.. good days and bad.. today was heng heng ok only haha...

BUT GREAT!!! after spending much money... (3 of us added together almost 2k).. so much sleepless nights researching.. 2 days NON-STOP fixing up the rig.. you see us with an improved rig! setup time 5 min.. tear down 5 min.. BUT SUEH SUEH TODAY guitar duno why no sound la.. sobs...BUT we seasoned le.. calm on stage le ba.. paiseh gota wait for us to start.. but the waiting will soon be over once we finalised everything.

It's all sweat blood stained money... thats why we're always broke. no joke. we're real people, not some star shining brightly, teeth glittering hollywoody stars... WE"RE BAND!!!! Curse of the musicians (pui... guitarist seems more cursed) But soon weiqi would be too as he goes digital fully.. (shaitz bro.. financial sunami befalling soon, hope the inflow's enought to sustain us! share share la hor...) One day maybe we'll be successful.. fully supported financially by sponsors and all who have faith in the band.. as all of you do :) have enough.. aint need to worry..

Wa.. Nic revealed the accounts.. Yea its true, our pockets are kinda empty now but its ok. Don't worry people. We're happy guys and that's most important. With supporters like YOU moving along wth us. Steady le la.. The past week, we've been brisk-walking around the IT part of town. Run here, walk there. Raining also walk. Rain water get into my precious shoes also walk. Soak their slippers also walk. In search high and low for stuff we need to buy.. Damn tired, but its worth it. We gotta improve. As usual as usual though i don't wish say as usual, our performance part can't be perfect. Nevermind, we enjoyed the little interaction and photo-taking part. And i think i looked rather silly in most pictures. I was trying to smile (closed mouth smile becos you know la) at the same time controlling myself from laughing out when our steadymama was holding the fork.

Overseas Trip

New Chapter of My Life

ORD loh!

It's amazing how time flies.. Been 1 yr 10 mths since i was enlisted. I remember my BMT times.. So much fun i had.. in the dirt.. in my sweat drenched Number 4s.. the stench of my stinkin' helmet.. all this seemed like yesterday.. i remember how crazy it was under the hot sun.. carrying my riffle.. singing army songs "with my riffle and my buddy and me-ee-eh!"... Thinking of all these is squeezing a tear outa the corner of my eye.. i remember the people that were in my life then.. i remember my bunk.. my bed.. the windows.. the metal cupboards and the padlock that guarded it. I remember the vending machine that i'ld go to twice a day minimum to get a cold refreshment.. i remember the pull up bars at the foyer.. i remember the canteen that i had to march there 3 times daily to eat... i remember the route marches - friends cheering "oi! abit more nico! Dun be a pussy buddy! Almost done!" I remember cheering my buddy on too "U okies buddy? Common buddy! tahan awhile only Sat book out le!".. i remember the brotherhood and man-egoistic feel of my platoon and bunkmates. I remember kiwi-ing my boots to an amazing shine...

I remember ever so vaguely my last camp MDC.. the dance studio.. tar black rubber floors.. mirrors on 3 walls out of 4.. 1.5x my own height.. i remember the male changing room.. the light odor of it.. musky.. ever stuffy though all 4 fans kept on... remember the dressing tables.. each man to one.. the steel cupboards that seemed to be our mini storerooms.. the chatter of crazy people.. always kept me occupied and cheerful.. light hearted.. i remember the stressful times which i had to learn dance choreography.. i remember my friends.. whom which we once in awhile clubbed.. danced the daily work stress away.. remember the people who got drunk and talk crap at these occasions making a fool of themselves... i remember the hugs we gave each other once in awhile.. i remember the moody times they had.. i had.. but faded away with each other's company.. i remember the shows we did.. some big.. some small and forgetable.. the 1 min fast changes in between performance items.. remember the quarrels we had and resolved.. All good memories.. nothing bad. I remember people who thought me how to dance.. do makeup.. thought me lil lessons on the entertainment life.. people who thought me more how to treasure people..

All these friends help made a part of who i am now. Wherever u all may be now.. Whatever you all may be doing.. May our paths in life cross.. and if they do.. seeing each other again.. I know it'll be all smiles.. only more.. nothing less.

MLB Adventure

Been keeping tracks on MLB events these few days..phew..I guess its quite tough to chase a singer/band that you admire..but the chase will be always be fun,exciting and thrilling..

Recently, MLB been attending SuperBand season 2, their autograph sessions,SHA 2008 and some outdoor events(like the most recent one at VivoCity)..I've upload some nice videos and pics of them from Youtube and other websites..enjoy watching.

Another amazing day. More after the jump...

Yesterday night.. Nic went to 2 different locations' ATM - both NO CASH

Nic morn woke up late. Half hr late.

Went to find ATM again.. no cash still.

So gotta wait for a cob with NETS.

2pm supposed meet the WQ and Sam, in the end 2.30 met.

Pick up time was 3.30.

So 1 hr left to setup and test run our entire RIG.

Borrowed 10 bucks from WQ to eat and buy kopi.

Guitar's M-Audio sound card couldn't detect Nic's guitar signal - no guitar, no sound.

Troubleshoot but to no avail.

Time check 3.15.

WQ face turned blue(plus little sleep and school crunch time).

Sam duno what to do. Wanted go home to take his same model sound card.

But could be software issue or Windows issue,

WQ tried to download the drivers to reinstall, but already up to date.

Nic went into escapism - dun want to do the gig le. Haha..

Nic came up with an idea.

Bypassed sound card direct into Guitar rig pedal.

Pick up to VIVO.

Sam had church commitments.

WQ and Nic arrived at VIVO

Soundcheck a silent soundless one. (and the most ‘polite’ sound man we ever met)

Check line. No balancing of volume of individual instruments.

No testing of mics.

Soundcheck overan by 45 min - sound ppl couldn't be bothered with us as we were an extra nuisance and trouble to them (Last min planned performance)

Late for makeup and hair at Icon ‘by Shunji Matsuo’. Late by 40 min.

After this supposed to pick up Sam.

Our bus was late.

Supposed to be at VIVO at 6.45.

Sam to take cab down straight.

Nic & WQ strip tease in the van.

Sam reached VIVO.

WQ & Nic Stuck in a jam at keppel.

Sam to do interviews and sing 3 songs(impromptu) to drag time.

Meanwhile WeiQi and Nic in bus guessing what song Sam is singing..

“Tian shi juan lian??? Or ShiYing? Or or.. maybe? Etc.. LOL...” and the bus is stationary due to traffic.

Time check 7.10.

WQ and Nic (and our dear and strong Veron) alighted the bus took a 10 min brisk walk/run into VIVO.

Sam relieved to see 2 bros arrive.

Setup up equipment.

WQ restart com 2 times - because soundcard "never makan the mac"

At one point of time Nic said “ WeiQi rmbr to sing hor”

The joke is, WeiQi was stoning...and he would have really forgotten to sing if not for Nic’s sentence.

Oh boy... happening day.

But hey, you all enjoyed the performance right? :p

Got photos once again... but WeiQi ah WeiQi... when u posting? Haha.. kiddin.

Mlbians came down even though last minute... steady la...

After gig, Nic got urgent family matters, had to run.

SHA '08(update1)

sam: Together, 3 of us plus you all (i hope) enjoyed last night. We definitely enjoyed the company of mlbians! Our 2nd time at SHA le.. I was telling myself, we'll just go there, relax and do good show. But when i was seated on the little white stool on stage facing fellow performers and so much more seasoned ones like Eason whom we super respect, i was nervous. Haha. I don't know how to describe totally my feelings, i was BLUR-ed. This man is a wonderful performer. Alone on the big stage, 3 songs he did, in 3 different characters, he brought out perfect vocals fitting to the song in all of them. INSPIRING! Heh.. You know i've always enjoyed canto pop, would have been a bonus if he did one too. And i still know i still know, we've got more more rooms for improvement. So let us work hard together man!!
For now since its a public holiday tomorrow, i'm giving myself a break. Going to JB for a walk later!! See ya there!

Was hard to breathe.. when came off stage i was like woooooooooooooooohoooooooooooo hardugey say say say say!!! erhem! nah.. it was fun.. amazing.. stress.. and i was immediately converted to an Eason Fan yesterday when i saw his performance... It was soulful.. done with the heart.. amazing.. was ARGH!!!! power la he... look at his facial expression can high le.. then after that on stage shoke his hand during closing.. exchanged words.. his encouragement yesterday pushes us to another level.. i mean.. of all ppl that were there.. he mentioned 3 average looking soon-to-become-men.. average performers.. average musicians.. with their simplistic acoustic songs - milubing... to comment.. to remember.. all i can say is i'm touched.. and thank him many-many.

EVENTFUL DAY FOR MLB!

nic : Just woke up.. been slping non stop!!...It was amazing... to be able to sign something we really call our own. It really felt great.. Hearing you guys sing.. Hearing the cheers that will resonate in my head for the next decade. It wasn't many people, but the people that were there really screamed their lungs out. The many familiar faces that we didn't see that day were missed.. shan't name them.. but i know deep in my heart they wanted to be there but couldn't make it. We know their hearts were there :) One more qian chang hui to go. We gonna have fun, and hope you guys would have fun with us again, singing, screaming, cheering this humble lil band that you guys have pulled through with for 2 yrs odd and running. Continue to run with us... our muscles are tired, but the spirit ain't weary just yet. We gonna go a long distance before we finally reach our finish line. Hope that there'll never be a finish line till we see "the wooden walls".

weiqi : Great day today. though full of unforeseen hiccups, but super happy and an emotional event for the 3 bros.. and u all (MLBIANS) played a huge role in making this event a success.. really glad u all made the effort to come..this round is a bit short(2songs) but the next one will be much longer(we will request k? heh heh) in fact this round we tried le but becos the event was meant to 'da' the first 2 songs. Even though the turn out was not uber fantastic, but the warmness was there, the family reunion feeling was back ;) and i dunno if u all realised, we were more at ease today (except for the XY$%& hardware failure which caused poor JunLi to try to find for more topics to talk about)..no choice, not enough $$. When we got more $ then we'll buy a more stable sound card ;) Once again, thanks for queuing up, buying the album, singing at the top of your lungs with us.. and most importantly, for showing the love!!! to those mlbians who couldn't make it, don't worry k? we understand that the timing can be quite hard for some studying and some working on sats.. so no worries.. let's see each other for this coming FRI!!! TAKE CARE PEEPS.. and thanks for the cards and gifts!!!

sam: Even though said many times already, i still wanna say THANK YOU, to each and everyone of you who support the 3 of us. At times i'll ask myself, what have we done to deserve such care and concern from you people. Its amazing. I'm really touched..
As i opened up the gifts, i see the effort and thoughtfulness in them. You actuallly get us stuff that are really useful for us. Thank you. And i am truly encouraged by the cards and letters i've received. No worries, i've moved on. I'm not the best person i can be now (in all aspects), i will learn along the way.

Hi mlbians.. been some time since we did a recap of the upcoming events and give ya some fresh updates... first things first, with regards to the radio interview that nite, we were unaware of the interview itself, cos we were only informed when we were having dinner before going up to the studio... we were @ SPH doing interviews for

(Paradigms built like Lego blocks continueously since young "Aha! New block! Aha! New colourful blocks i found! Aha! Let me stack them this way.. nice! No... ugly!.. This way sure fall.. no it won't it will stand! I made the right choice!)

(Lego blocks must be stacked upwards not dioganally or sideways "Up and up! Taller it grows! Sideways? Nah.. Other directions not nice.. upwards make it tall!! hmm... Tried something weird like this back then anyways.. it fell.. try odd directions and structure again?.. sure fall, don't take risk.. Don't waste time.. build it upwards.. sure stand.")

My rule - "The Exception Rule"

(I'm making my Lego building go up and up and up and up, it can only go up. It looks generic, like any other Lego buildings people built around me. Yet I want it different. Can it be? OK!! An exception I will make! I want it built downwards, sideways or sprial while going up at the same time! Anyway it can be rebuilt if i made mistakes! Slowly take this piece out.. dismantle my building a bit, tough... may fail.. but it be worth it yes? If I persist all the way? yea.. But I'ld be mocked at, people will say I'm different, they'll avoid me, say it's ugly though I'ld think it's an artwork I believe in and love.. Or it may turn really out ugly.. redoing's a chore.. hmm...)

Every rule can be overuled and an exception can be made if thought through carefully, NOT breaking personal belief systems and principles (which in them ironically partly consist of other/another set of rules).

Risks and prices to pay of being different are high. The Lego building may collapse while removing that small block which many years of hardwork put in gone down with the Laws of Gravity. People may jeer thinking it's ugly. You may have the most beautiful and unique Lego building in your eyes. Or the direct opposite, you may experience total failure.
